Charles is an award-winning director focused on the preservation of identity. In feature documentaries, Charles directed Buddy Guy: The Blues Chase The Blues Away, which premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival and won Best Feature Documentary at the 2022 Pan-African Film Festival, and Romeo Santos: King of Bachata, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy and currently airs on HBO Max. For CNN, Charles directed “Lessons From The Water: Diving With A Purpose” (“DWP”), featuring a group of black archaeologists with the goal to restore the nearly 500 voyages shipwrecked during the slave trade to historial record.
