Laura Mora Ortega (Medellín, 1981) is a Colombian film director and screenwriter, recognized for her 2017 feature film Matar a Jesús, and for winning the Golden Shell at the 70th edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival, with Los reyes del mundo. She was born in Medellín and studied high school at the German School in the same city. He studied film production and directing at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Before the fire is Mora's debut feature film. It was released in 2015 in theaters in Colombia. Her follow up film is Matar a Jesús. The film won a large number of national and international awards, including the EGEDA Award at the Cartagena Film Festival, the Jury Prize for Best First Film and the Casa de las Américas Award at the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana, the Eroski Youth Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival and the Roger Ebert Award at the Chicago Film Festival.
